2025 Jun 25: The Sword of Nim-Kippur

 Nim-Kippur was a Bronze Elf hero who lived a few hundred years ago. He founded the city of Nim-Artash, slew many monsters including the dragon named The Flying Pestilence, and the man-eating giant Martok. According to the priests in Nim-Artash, when he died, he was raised to dwell among the gods. The same priests claim that one of the swords in their care once belonged to this legendary hero.

The sword in question is a nice, but not overly decorated one, made out of bronze with brass decorations along the crossguard and the hilt. It is made in a style that has fallen out of style in the last century, being somewhat shorter and thicker than most swords made today, but since it is maintained so well by the temple, it is hard to say its real age.

Various myths of the surrounding lands ascribe magical powers to the sword, such as being able to cut anything, up to and including boulders, chariots, and even solid bars of copper. Another often mentioned ability in those legends is its ability to glow with blue fire when demons are nearby, alerting its wielder and allowing him to set demons alight with these flames, which consume them almost instantly.

Lore24 Jan 13: Royal Prince Ea-Ir

 Ea-Ir is handsome young man, quick to laugh and quick to anger. He wears colorful robes and a well-oiled beard to appear more impressive. As the son of the Sorcerer-King he has inherited command over light and heat. He mostly uses this to have a slight halo of light around his head, or to have the air around him ripple and twist, as if his body was extremely hot. This show of his powers gains him friends as quickly as enemies. Most of the older men in power love him, as he is very good at pretending he is like what they imagine their younger selves to be. The priesthood however tends to look down of such displays of magical power, claiming it’s using the gift of the gods for mere parlor tricks. The prince knows that his inheritance is not secure as long as his sister is alive, but can’t act directly against her while their father lives. #Lore24 Basic Design Document

 I am writing this mainly for myself, as I am extremely prone to just have my creative mind wander off into the distance coming up with all sorts of nonsense which, while entertaining isn't necessarily coherent or meshes well with whatever tone I started the project off with. So now I want to write down some rough guidelines for what I'll be attempting to create on this blog.  For those who don't know, #lore24 is similar to #dungeon23. The idea is that I will post about something that exists within a setting of my own making, every day for the whole of 2024. Now hopefully I'll be busy enough that I must skip a few days during the year, but I also aim to make up for those days, so that by the end of the year, I'll have 366 posts in the #lore24 category.
