2025 Jun 28: Servitors of the Gods

Most deities have a host of lesser supernatural agents helping them carry out their duties, which are collectively referred to as the servitors of the gods. Usually these are their offspring, transfigured souls of beloved followers, or creature purpose-made to fulfill their tasks. A such, their forms can vary wildly from deity to deity, and even from task to task. Some would pass for mortals, some are unbearably beautiful, and some are so alien, as to be indescribable.

Generally those servitors who are meant to interact with mortals look the most like them, or at least as a mixture of things mortals can comprehend. Those that are so alien as to cause mortals to flee in terror from just glimpsing their forms, usually are meant to ensure the proper functioning of the world from behind the scenes. This, however has not stopped mortals from using magic to call forth servitors they have no business dealing with, often with tragic results.

2025 Mar 31: Old Man Death

  Old Man Death is the colloquial name of an huge and ancient dragon that lives near the eastern side of the mines of Caeledor . While the old beast is quite temperamental, he has been known to on occasion help the locals in exchange for vast amounts of gold and iron. This help comes usually in the form of him sniffing around for new tin deposits (he boasts that his nose can smell all sorts of metals, and judging by the fact that he can tell the grade and purity of metals offered to him without even looking), but he sometimes lets humans use his fire for melting metal. On at least one occasion he even used his gigantic claws to dig around for tin, but that came at such a gigantic price, that no.one has attempted to ask such a thing from him ever again.  Of course dealing with a dragon is never easy, but especially one as old and bad-tempered as Old Man Death. The Pale things are wretched creatures. Once humanoid, now their bodies are warped to animalistic, new forms. Some start to look like insects, some transform into something closer to a reptile, or even something unlike any other being. They stalk the forgotten places of the world, preying on the lost and foolish who happen upon them. They drain their victims of their blood, their white flesh flushing gem-like with red. Then they return to their long vigil, for they cannot die to starvation, old age, or illness, only to blade or magic. Many think they are a form of undead, brought back from the Underworld to feast upon the blood of the living. That is incorrect. The truth is, in fact the opposite: the Pale Things are beings of life stretching cancerously forever.
