2025 May 27: Arctorian Badge

Invented by the orcs, the Artctorian Badge is a relatively common magical item, usually made of silver, depicting a bear on its hind legs. It is given to those that prove themselves worthy, usually generals or fleet commanders, and is generally considered to be among the highest honors one can achieve in orcish society.

Arctorian Badges can have many different enchantments, but the most popular are personal protective spells, closely followed by the ability to talk to bears, as the ceremony in which they are typically awarded is framed as becoming blood-brothers with them. Badges bestowed upon exceptionally heroic individuals may have completely unique effects, and while the badges are usually either buried with their wearers or are donated to a temple upon their deaths, it is not unheard of for some to have been given one that was recovered from the tomb of a great hero, or has been given out by temple it is housed in for people seen as continuing the deceased's legacy.

This has of course led to certain Badges having their own legends, which stretch over multiple owners. Receiving such a badge is the ultimate dream of every young orc taking up arms.

 The Eiridian Clam is a rather average merchant vessel sailing the seas. Previously most of its business was coming from ferrying tin from Caeledor all the way around the mainland to the various empires of the Inner Sea. 2025 Mar 27: The Mines of Caeledor

 In the far northwest, in the lands of Caeledor, the land overflows with tin. While the frequent storms make it extremely difficult to sail to the island, it is also a very lucrative endeavor, since the tin brought from here can be used to make the highest quality bronze , when combined with an appropriately good grade of copper. A large boatload of the stuff can make a person rich enough to never have to work again in their life, and even just a few ingots can fetch a nice price on the many markets of the southern empires. Of course the locals have begun extensive mining operations, with various kingdoms vying for control of these lucrative mines. As of now king Hebras of Wynnig runs most of them, but with southerner traders coming less and less frequently, he is losing ground to various upstarts, who don't quite know or in some cases care that revenue from the mines just isn't what it was in the days of their fathers and grandfathers. Nimir-Esh was the most powerful of the Five Sorcerers of Satnak and, perhaps surprisingly, he was the first of them to die. When the news broke, hundreds fell to their knees crying on the streets, in their homes, even on the balconies and terraces of the temples and palaces. He was a large man, with a thick beard and a thicker arm. His eyes gleaned red, and his hair ran wild. He claimed to be descended from Soo-Eh , and wielded the magic of rage and the magic of blood. Yet he was kind, and he was thoughtful. Once he spent a day thinking on how to help a man stuck under a collapsed house, as to not cause him injuries while saving him.
